In an interesting turn of events, It appears that Daniel Craig has done a 180 and has still expressed his interest in playing the suave, womanizing British super spy. This is particularly interesting because a year ago before Spectre came out he said in a brief but open interview with Time Out magazine that he would “rather slash my wrists” than reprise the role.
However this change in mindset was revealed at the New Yorker Festival last Friday. Craig took to the stage to discuss his life and career, and of course his experiences as Bond and whether he would play the role again ? Craig said he wasn’t done with the character yet and would like to return for at least one more film. He said :
” They say that shit sticks, and that definitely stuck. It was the day after filming [stopped on Spectre]. I’d been away from home for a year”
Spectre took the cast and crew to multiple locations such as Mexico , Austria, Morocco, and Italy , which combined with the physicality of the role must have taken a Toll on the 47-year-old actor. Craig further stated that there have been “no conversations” about the next film as “everyone’s a bit tired”, but he would still be up for one more Bond adventure.
” As far as I’m concerned, I’ve got the best job in the world. I’ll keep doing it as long as I still get a kick out of it. If I were to stop doing it, I would miss it terribly”
So far Daniel Craig has done four Bond movies in the guise of – Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace, Skyfall and Spectre. The last film wasn’t the best but it was the one that felt like a classic Bond movie as Daniel Craig’s interpretation of James Bond is more gritty , visceral and realistic than his predecessors. Craig’s comments last year got the world predicting who will be his successor. there were some radical suggestions like Idris Elba and Tom Hiddleston to more normal one like michael Fassbender. Bond 25 is currently without a release date.
