With less than a year away Spider-Man: Homecoming news is coming in faster than ever . We have already confirmed that Robert Downey Jr. will be making his 7th appearance as Iron-Man in Spidey’s first solo film in the Marvel Cinematic universe. We have also heard the somewhat controversial news that Zendaya will be playing Mary Jane in this film amongst many other things. We can now confirm that the early reports of Michael Keaton playing the villain of the piece , Adrian Toomes who Spidey fans will recognise as the vulture is true . Marvel Studios producer Kevin Feige confirmed this news in an interview with Toronto Sun. He said :
” We’ve had a wish list and most of them in the near-term are coming together. Cate Blanchett is playing Hela in Thor Ragnarok . Michael Keaton’s Vulture in Spider-Man is something . And of course , finally we’re showcasing Josh Brolin’s Thanos (in Avengers: Infinity War) We’re looking forward to that very much.”
This piece of news is also supplemented (see the picture below) a concept art showing what the vulture’s costume might look like when the film hits cinemas in the summer of 2017. This won’t be Michael Keaton’s first foray into the super hero world as he once portrayed Batman in Tim Burton’s Batman and its sequel Batman Returns . He also played an actor who was recognized for his turn as an avian superhero . The movie in question is indeed Birdman which earned him a Golden Globe win as Best Actor and an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor . So with that in mind it’s safe to say he won’t have a problem fitting into the role even though he is playing the part of a villain.
Spider-Man:Homecoming is set for a July , 2017 release date.
