A TRIP TO JAMAICA BECOMES THE HIGHEST GROSSING NOLLYWOOD FILM IN 2016

Comedian AY has just proved that Lightning does indeed strike twice. Just 10 day after it’s release, it  appears that Ay’s latest film  A Trip to Jamaica, has already raked in a whopping  N 80 million to surpass every other  movie that has hit  Nigerian cinemas in 2016.  The movie  set itself a good tone as it made N 61 million in its first week, which has managed to surpass  Suicide Squad’s record of N40 million in Nigerian cinemas.  The report has also confirmed that the  movie  also set a  record as the fastest film to hit the Naira Century mark in the history of Nigerian cinemas in 7 days.

According to Moses Babatope of FilmOne Distribution “Going by these figures, A Trip To Jamaica, Ay’s sophomore film as a producer, is set to smash the box office records currently held by his own ’30 Days In Atlanta’ ”.The  predecessor to his latest comedy, 30 Days in Atlanta  in 2014 made over N160 million during its stay in Nigerian cinemas making it  the highest domestic grossing  movie in Nollywood according to the  Guinness World Records. A Trip to Jamaica premiered on September 25, 2016 and it features Ay, Funke Akindele, Nse Ikpe-Etim, Eric Roberts, Paul Campbell, Chris Attoh and Rebecca Silvera.
